Private Boat trip
BAYS OF ÖLÜDENİZ

Ölüdeniz is one of the most beautiful parts of the Turkish coastline — but also one of the busiest. At about 11 o’clock many large daily tour boats leave the beach, and the atmosphere becomes much louder and more crowded.

That is why timing matters here so much.

My recommendations is designed for people who would like to see the coastline in a calmer and more peaceful way — either before the large boats arrive or later in the afternoon, when the sea and the atmosphere become quieter again.

Private speedboats also allow access to smaller bays, sea caves, and quiet swimming spots that larger boats cannot reach.

THE ROUTES
There are two routes in this area. You can explore one or book a longer trip and see both.

The Right Side | St. Nicholas Island & more

The Right Side — also known as the St. Nicholas Island side, is known for its safe ancient harbours, and calm waters. The sea here is flat most of the time, making this route especially comfortable. Along the way, there is an island to explore, old harbours, many wild beaches and a very special atmosphere that history lovers usually enjoy very much.

The best hours to start this route are in the morning (9:30–10:00) or late afternoon (16:00–17:00). In the morning, the sea colour is usually brighter and more turquoise-blue, while towards the evening the atmosphere becomes softer and more golden-hour-like.

  • Deve Beach and other wild beaches nearby
This part of the coastline has many bays with calm, crystal-clear water. The captain will choose a few depending on which ones are quietest and free from large tour boats.
  • Mersinli Bay with a tiny hidden beach

This little emerald-water bay hides a very special spot — a tiny beach tucked between the rocks beneath the pine trees. The captain can drop you there for a quiet romantic moment.
  • Cold Water Bay with a natural cold swimming pool
Cold Water Bay is special for two reasons. First, it has a natural freshwater pool connected to the sea — a refreshing place to cool down during the hot summer months. Second, on the side of the bay you can still see the remains of an old water cistern believed to date back to the time of Suleiman the Magnificent (16th century).
  • St. Nicholas Island

St. Nicholas Island is truly one of my favorite places on the coast. The bay itself is beautiful, with calm, crystal-clear water almost every day of the year. But what makes this place especially memorable is the island itself — you can hike up through the ancient ruins towards the lighthouse, where the views become incredible.
  • Other beautiful locations on the way

On the way, the captains usually show a few extra spots along the coastline — sea arches, hidden pools, and small caves. While this route may look less dramatic in photos, it’s one of the best choices for calm, clear water and a relaxed experience, especially for families with children or elderly parents.
  • Choosing this route you have a chance to meet this legend and try her gözleme
Another reason to choose this route is the chance to meet a wonderful local lady called Birsen, who prepares incredible Turkish flatbreads with filling right on the boat.

The Left Side | Butterfly Valley & more

The Left Side — also known as the Butterfly Valley side, has beautiful wild locations with dramatic nature and open sea views, but the timing here has to be planned carefully, as these places can get very busy during the day. It is also not always possible to visit this side because of sea conditions and waves. If the sea is rough, the route is usually changed to the Right Side.

The best hours to start this route are early afternoon (13:00–14:00), late afternoon (16:00–17:00), or closer to sunset. In brighter daylight, the sea colour is usually more turquoise-blue, while towards the evening the atmosphere becomes softer and more golden-hour-like.

  • The Secret Beach

Picture-perfect wild beach not far from Ölüdeniz, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and incredibly clear water. It used to be known as a “naked beach” many years ago, but today it’s simply a beautiful natural spot.
  • The Blue Cave Beach

This is a very special, Santorini-like part of the coastline, known for its turquoise sea, white rocks, and beautiful pebble beach. But the beach itself is only part of the experience — there is even more to explore nearby.
  • The Blue Cave

A sea cave with a tiny beach hidden inside. One of the most magical spots on the coastline — the kind of place where you truly feel like a mermaid or a dolphin.
  • The Buttetfly Valley

This is a stunning mass tourism destination. Normally it’s crazy busy but our captains make sure to come here only in the quiet hours.
The starting point 📍 for all the trips is Belcekız Beach.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
Please read these to understand the tour better.
  • PRIVATE EXPERIENCE
This is a private trip — there will be no other guests on the boat besides you and the captain.
  • WHEN DOES THE TRIP START?
I’ve explained the timing in more detail in each route description, but in general there are two best options: either before the big tour boats arrive, or after they leave. So the best hours are usually either morning or late afternoon.

How to decide when to go:
If you would like to see brighter turquoise-blue water, choose the morning or early afternoon hours. If you prefer softer sunlight and more of a golden-hour atmosphere, late afternoon is usually the best option.
  • WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU
    Water & snacks
There is nowhere to buy anything at sea (but there is a market in the village), so please bring at least 1 litre of water per person. The sea and sun usually make people hungry, so bringing some snacks is also a good idea.

    Towels
You will need them both on the boat and during beach drop-offs.

    Shoes that can get wet
Please bring light shoes or flip-flops suitable for hot sand and getting on and off the boat easily.

    Important
Please arrive already wearing your swimwear or beach clothes. There is no changing room on the speedboat.
